S/Sgt. Wayne F. Laubert. 368th Sqn

Flight Engineer on B-17G 43-37633 standing in for sick regular crew member. After being interred at the US Military cemetery at Madingley, S/Sgt. Laubert was flown back to Vienna, Missouri in 1948 to be buried at

Visitation Cemetery.

S/Sgt Laubert was decorated with---

Purple Heart, Bronze Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon,

European Theater Ribbon, Two Silver Stars and 8 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Received a Presidential Citation.

S/Sgt. Laubert had gained promotion to M/Sgt at the time of his death.

He was based at RAF Thurleigh, Bedfordshire, Eighth Air Force.

Born February 1, 1923, inducted into the USAAF September 22, 1942

and received basic training at Jefferson Barracks then later Utah and South Dakota. Formerly employed at the Curtis-Wright plant in St Louis, MO. Had completed 32 bombing missions of the 35 needed to

complete his tour of duty when the accident occurred.

Funeral cortege comprised nearly 300 cars and 1000 mourners.
