Crash Sites 1944 USAAF Photographs

Both B-17s had crashed outside the southern perimeter regions of

Greenham Common on the Berkshire/Hampshire border line.

They had ended up roughly 2 miles apart from each other. 43-37633

near Bishops Green & 43-38019 near Newtown, to the west.

An engine of one of the B-17s remained visible for a number of years

afterwards, but has now since sunk underground, and no visible wreckage now remains. The wreckage remains had been removed the

northen side of the airbase, west of where the more recent control tower now disused, still stands today.
